"I was there [New York] about ten days and then came here by train in order to make a broadcast [Lux Radio Theatre, Episode 195, CBS with Mary Astor, Herbert Marshall, Gail Patrick] on the 28th for which we had to rehearse. The play we did was Interference which had such a long run at the St James's [Howard must have meant the St. James in London because Interference actually appeared at the Empire Theatre in NYC] some years ago. Bart Marshall [Herbert Marshall] was in it with me and several old English friends...and came off most successfully. I have several other broadcasts to do and have been asked to remain and act in the film of Gone With The Wind which starts in a few weeks' time. I really don't want to stay here longer than I can help as I am fidgeting to get our English project [The Man Who Lost Himself which Howard never had a chance to make because of WWII] started, but I feel I ought to earn as much money as possible while I'm here. We all feel this is such a stupid place (even Futter does) [Walter Futter, his co-producer on the film] and miss England very much...I am expecting the family later on if I stay long enough to make it worthwhile..."
